Description: The much awaited Annual Sports Day 'Urja Utsav' was held on Monday 20th May, 2019 with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The programme began with the welcoming of the Chief Guest Ms.Jyoti Rana-Joint Director Hippa, by the Principal Sr.Nirmala. The sports day Urja Utsav presented a rare opportunity for self discovery and inner transformation. The parents were made aware about the sustainable development goals which is an ecological initiative to present and reverse environmental degradation and enable sustainable living by offering a simulating environment for the inner blossoming of each child.
The sports day began with the lighting of the torch by the Chief Guest. The school band marched in their white and blue with pride and confidence.
The Chief Guest Ms.Jyoti Rana took the salute of the impressive March past of the students, coupled with some stirring marching music by the band.
A welcome dance was presented by the students of classes VII and VIII. The welcome dance included Tandav, Tribal Dance, Society Dance as an amalgamation of Kathak and Bharatnatyam, Bhangra and Free style of dance. At the end the dancers formed the five Olympic rings representing the theme of Olympics on sports day-“The most important thing is not to win but to take part.”
This was followed by the Prize Distribution for the athletic meet held from classes VI to VIII. Medals and certificates were awarded to the participants in different categories.
The students of class VII enthralled the audience with their vibrant dupettas representing different kind of Urja in human body.
The students of classes VI participated in different class activities namely-Frog Jump, Hop with the Ball and Passing the Ball.
The students of classes VI, VII and VIII participated in the Flat Race and Relay Race. Once the races began the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes.
The students displayed their skills through Karate, Gymnastics and Yoga and mesmerized the audience with their energetic performances.
The Hoopla Drill by class VI and the Zumba aerobics performed to the energetic music enthralled the audience by their flawless performance. At the end the Chief Guest applauded the students for their energetic performance and asked the students to live a healthy life. The Chief Guest was felicitated by the Principal Sr.Nirmala. At the end the Principal congratulated the staff specially Ms.Sharmila, Mr.Dinesh, Mr.Ajay Thakur, Ms. Neena Sood and the entire middle school faculty for their hardwork and for exemplifying the spirit of sportsmanship.
The best march past trophy was won by Tagore House. The House for best activities was Mary Ward House. Samayra Chauhan of class VIII was the best Athlete.
